A full range of Fender Guitar paint colours to refinish to the highest standard , this range is the original vintage colour range and can be found on fender guitars from the 50’s onwards this is because we have researched with all the classic colours.
Mirrorlaq cellulose has been used on guitars for 50 years and is the classic paint finish to finish your guitars to original colour specification and gloss and will mellow over time. you can however pick from a range of special effect colour in our colourbook

Mixing Instructions
Mixing ratio is 100 parts Mirrorlaq 100-100 parts Mirrorfast thinner.
With some colours, a greater amount of thinner will enhance the sprayablity and polishablity due to extra flow.
Metallic colours mixing ratio is 100 Mirrorfast 150 parts Mirrorlaq thinner.

Spray Application process

Primer
Sand original finish or wood, with p400 dry serrated abrasive, mix primer 3-1 with thinner, apply 3 coats with 10 minutes between coats, leave to dry before sanding with p400 dry serrated abrasives.
Colour Coat
Spray single coats until full opacity is achieved (with most colours 3-4 single coats is sufficient). Flash off times will vary depending on temperature, the type of thinners used and conditions of application, please allow each coat to become touch dry before applying the following coat.
Clearcoat
When topcoat is fully dry you can apply if required 4 coats Mirrorfast Acrylic Clearcoat 10 minutes between each coat. When fully dry you can flat imperfections and polish to high gloss.

Colour Sample: Although the colour sample shown is very close to the finished painted colour it may differ slightly as this is a digital representation of it , the colour supplied will be to the original colour sample.


Special Effect Basecoat Colour

Some colour in the guitar range are metallic colours you can have both basecoat or cellulose metallic also a range of multi-flip pearls as a result will give a two tone effect and in addition a range of superb pearls and metallics with a Deep shimmering colours with high reflectivity in sunlight and a range of solid colours used with clearcoat or as a base for pearls and metallics colours.

Fender guitar paints have been design to make the application of Metallic and Pearlcoat colours a simple process , due to the ease of application and will stop the problems associated with application of basecoat mottling of Metallic with long drying times and Floating when lacquer is applied over basecoat are all things of the past.


Metallic and pearlcoat Products

Mirrorbase Polyester base coat clearcoat system

Mirrorbase should be used as part of refinishing systems and should be over coated with Mirrorclear clearcoat product before protection is achieved. Quick drying basecoat available in solid, metallic, pearl and special effect multi flip due to low opacity most colours will require a coloured groundcoat.

Mirrorbase basecoat is a quick drying basecoat for car and commercial vehicles consequently improving you throughput and efficiency. This product has been design to make the application of Metallics and Pearlcoat colours a simple process , due to the ease of application , Mirrorbase stops the problems associated with application of basecoat ,mottling of Metallics ,long drying times and Floating when lacquer is applied over basecoat are all things of the past.

Substrates

First of all the original finishes are to be cleaned and sanded while (not recommended on thermoplastic acrylic finishes).
Mirror hi-Fil 2k primer.
Mirror Washfiller etch.
Tempo filler shades

Surface preparation

Mirrorbase basecoat apply three coats allow to dry between coats then allow 15-20 minutes flash after the application of the last coat before applying Clearcoat.

The entire panel or blending in areas is to be carefully prepared (before basecoat application):
– Clean with water and soap
– Degreaser with mirror quick wipe degreaser.
– Dry sand with p500 disc finish with grey finishing pad.
– Or Wet flat with p1000 wetordry.
– Wipe dry with clean and dry cloth.
– Tack off or Use Attract rag.

Product preparation

Use 1 – 1 ratio mixing stick.

Mix ratio

1 part Mirrorbase with 1 part every thinner fast/slow.

Please make sure you add 10% hardener to the colour if not clear coated after flash off times

Application Data

– Spray viscosity (at 20 °c) Din4 15s.
– Pot life (at 20 °c) 24 hrs
– Gravity feed fluid tip 1.2 – 1.4mm
– Suction fluid tip 1.0 – 1.2mm
– Pressure type fluid tip 1.0 – 1.2mm (Pressure 4 – 6 bar – 50 – 80 psi)
– Spray pressure (bar): 3.5 – 4 (45-50 psi)
– Spray distance (cm): 15-20 cm

Drying times

10 minutes between coats.

Recoatable with Mirrorclear 2k

30 minutes after last coat application.

Equipment cleaning

Use mirror low cost thinner immediately after use.

Remarks

Please prepare the surface carefully before the Mirrorbase basecoat application.

Protect exteriors or prepare and sand exteriors prior to applying the interiors to prevent re lifting of the over spray when applying the exterior finish.
